About Dr. Atuhani S. Burnett
Atuhani S. Burnett, MD, PhD, FACS is a board-certified surgical oncologist with expertise in the surgical management of liver, pancreas and gastrointestinal system tumors. Dr. Burnett specializes in Whipple, pancreatectomy, hepatectomy, liver ablation,
bile duct resections, gastrectomy, esophagectomy, small bowel resections, colectomy, HIPEC and robotic surgery.
After graduating from Andrews University, Dr. Burnett received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. While at Vanderbilt, he also received a doctorate (PhD) in microbiology and immunology research and completed his general
surgery internship. Dr. Burnett went on to complete a residency in general surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive endoscopic thoracic surgery at West Penn Hospital. He then completed an additional
fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at McGill University.
Before joining Atlanta Liver and Pancreas Surgical Specialists at Northside, Dr. Burnett was a clinical assistant professor at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and served as the chief of surgical oncology at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s
Hospital. As an experienced surgeon, Dr. Burnett has many clinical interests, including benign and malignant tumors of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, esophagus, stomach, small bowel and peritoneal surface malignancies; pancreatic neuroendocrine
tumors; GIST tumors; and appendix cancers. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles, research papers and book chapter publications.
Dr. Burnett believes in delivering comprehensive care using a collaborative approach tailored to each patient’s unique needs and desires. He enjoys being part of their journey toward wellness and believes his bedside manner, which is driven by his
deep need to do what is both right and good for his patients, is what sets him apart.
Outside of the office, Dr. Burnett enjoys traveling internationally, dining out, camping, spending time with his kids, doing small home improvement projects and cycling.
