About Dr. Malini D. Sur

Malini D. Sur, MD, FACS is the Medical Director of the Atlanta Liver and Pancreas Surgical Specialists. With dual board certification in both complex general surgical oncology and general surgery, she has extensive experience in managing tumors of the pancreas, liver, bile ducts, stomach, and abdomen. She is specialized in minimally invasive robotic surgery and strongly values an evidence-based, collaborative, yet personalized approach to cancer care.

After graduating from Harvard College, Dr. Sur received her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She went on to complete her general surgery residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was appointed the administrative chief resident of the Department of Surgery and awarded the prestigious Arthur H. Aufses, Sr. Prize in Surgery for her outstanding commitment to patients. Dr. Sur then completed her complex general surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center and an additional fellowship in surgical ethics at the University of Chicago MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics.

Prior to joining the Atlanta Liver and Pancreas Surgical Specialists at Northside, Dr. Sur was an assistant professor of surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York and served as the Chief of Surgical Oncology at Mount Sinai Queens. Dr. Sur’s clinical interests include pancreatic cancer, liver metastases, hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), neuroendocrine tumors, retroperitoneal sarcoma, and appendix cancers. She has authored multiple research papers and chapters within her field, and currently serves as a committee chair for the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA).

Dr. Sur strives to deliver the best possible care for her patients and feels privileged to have an immediate impact on her patients through surgery. She hopes to be able to provide comfort and clarity at a time that may be marked by fear and uncertainty. In her spare time, Dr. Sur enjoys spending time with her family and her creative pursuits in music and dance.

Dr. Sur practices out of our Atlanta and Lawrenceville offices.
